Twins 7, White Sox 0

July 29, 2008

I must have been a bit rusty, because the start of this story really makes no sense. Although in my defense, a few of the grafs were moved around in the editing process.

I spoke with Livan Hernandez after the game to get his thoughts on Slowey. The veteran seemed impressed by the way Slowey has stayed steady despite some rough outings. That was his point when he told Slowey that his rough outing in Chicago wouldn’t be his last. Lesson learned, I guess.

And consider me firmly in the Denard Span camp. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about the guy. Perseverance, class, talent, the guy has it all. I think the Twins have plenty of room for Span along with Delmon Young, Carlos Gomez and Michael Cuddyer for many years to come.

If Minnesota needs to ditch an outfielder when Cuddyer returns, it should be Craig Monroe. He was brought in to hit lefties, but has been brutal most of the season. He was pretty much the only guy who DIDN’T hit lefty Mark Buehrle last night, grounding into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the fifth to cap off his night.
